First, I would like to applaud everyone who is still hanging in there and getting their steps in! Some days are definitely a challenge for me. At first I was disappointed seeing how far ahead others were with their steps. So much so that I thought to myself, “how in the world am I ever going to catch up?” Then I remembered that this is actually a competition. A competition to not only challenge myself, but to try and to improve upon each day! Sometimes walking is difficult for me as I have Plantar Fasciitis in my right heel. So I rarely, if ever, surpass 10K steps. Although I have noticed that stretching well before walking and getting my steps in each day has diminished the pain in my heel. So much so that it is not quite as painful as it was when I started this challenge! I think I may have beat this affliction just by being more active and foregoing the cost of seeing my foot doctor!
I have also lost 10 lbs. It isn’t a huge amount, but I feel better and I am much more active with my family! I enjoy getting out and walking with them, especially on the beautiful weekends we have been having.
This last weekend we spent the entire day hiking around at Rainie Falls near Merlin and enjoyed a beautiful walk along the Rogue River. It was exciting to see 10K steps flashing on my fitbit, in the middle of our hike!
Thanks to this steps challenge I feel healthier, have more energy and actually feel younger even though I will be 49 in two weeks! It just goes to show that a healthy lifestyle and exercise really can make a difference!
